The Life and Times of Me
20.5.05
I forgot to mention, we have finally got all the monies in from the 24 hour cricket. We have made over £2000. Next Friday we are going to go for a photo opportunity and hand a large cheque over to Dundee Disabled Children's Association. Thanks to everyone who sponsored me.
Life has started to speed up
What a last couple of weeks it has been.
Last week saw my last university exam (hopefully ever) and as a result I spent about 12 hours in the student union afterwards. Surprisingly I didnt have a hangover the next day.
On Wednesday I played some cricket University of Dundee students 2XI vs the staff in a 20:20 match. We lost but the game and I was told I played a "Boycottesk innings" (something like 15 overs with only 2 runs...) and the comment was made "this isn't F**king test cricket Amy." At the weekend I played more cricket, saturday was against Crieff (which we lost... I got a duck, they had this bloke from NZ playing for them by the name of Tim Oram and we wondered if he was related to Jacob) that was another 80 overs of cricket. Sunday we traveled away to Largo for another game which we also lost (no duck this time but 0 not out). So in 5 days I played 200 overs of cricket, no wonder I was stiff on monday morning.
Tuesday saw my 3rd driving test within a year and thank goodness it was third time lucky. So beware... Amy is on the roads.
More drinking took place this week to, Tuesday night Charlene and I celebrated and Wednesday night, after the final cricket commitee meeting of the year, I was drinking with the boys. If anyone would like to read the end of year captains report let me know, its only 5 pages long :) I have again reached the conclusion that I shouldn't drink with the boys, 7 pints later I was at home in my bed, not feeling great (although I think the spicy bean burger I had for my tea was the main cause of that). The main problem seemed to be the whenever some one went to the bar they came back with a drink for me (because obviously they all know what I drink these days).
Thursday I had a pleasent surprise. I have been applying for jobs, just on the off chance that someone might want me... Well one I applied for in Ipswich for Suffolk County Council came up and I have been asked to an interview for the posisiton of Strategic Environmental Assessment officer... I have to prepare a ten minute presentation. Oh pooh is all I can say.
Wednesday afternoon I had a Daniel Bruehl fest (of good bye lennin fame) as I went to watch The Edukators (Die Fetten Jahre sind vorbei) which was excellent. Thursday afternoon I had an Orlando Bloom fest and went to see the great Kingdom of Heaven, although I doubt it is historially accurate it was a nice way to spend an afternoon. Over the next week or so I have lined up Stars Wars Episode III (despite not seeing I and II i still want to see III, I know I am odd), Dear Frankie, The Assassination of Richard Nixon, Keys to the House (Le chiavi di casa), Sin City and possibly Five times two (cinq fois deux).
Off to buy some shoes (for my wee brother) today.

Tis a funny old game
You may think that I am talking about Football, but I am not, I am refering to Cricket. Today the University of Dundee played the University of St Andrews (who are mostly English and mostly POSH). St Andrews won by 9 wickets. We were 12 all out (off about 12 overs) and they were 13 for 1 (off about 4 overs). Och Well is all you can say really. Apparently the pitch was crap.

I am supposed to be revising but I did this instead, an IQ Test. This is what it said:
I agree with the Visual Mathematician bit bit that is very high score... I think it may be broke.
Amy, your IQ score is 133
Amy, your IQ score is significantly above average. Congratulations! You have a wide range of exceptional skills which are much stronger than those of the average population. You are also skilled at answering the types of questions that are asked in a classic IQ test. The test analyses your strengths and weaknesses based on your mathematical, linguistic, visual-spatial and logical skills. Even though you have high scores in all of those areas, we are able to analyse your results to discover the areas in which you have the strongest abilities.
You have a strong ability to process visual-spatial and mathematical information. These skills combined with your strengths in logic are what make you a Visual Mathematician.

I like my local MP (Liverpool Walton). However, because we live in a world of Party Politics I didn't vote for him (although I did in 2001) because he was Labour and I am not fond of New Labour (Old Tory) at the moment. My "protest" vote didn't get him unelected (he had a 17,996 majority in 2001) however, there was some swing (3% from Lab to LD) and he has now got a majority of 15,957.
In Dundee things were intersting too. SNP gained the Dundee East seat from Lab with a 1.1% swing. The SNP has a majority of just 383. This seat was seen as one of the key ones to gain for the SNP (and arguably the easiest to win) after the boundry changes of Scotland.
So Labour have a smaller majority, this has got to be a good thing. They may think twice about many of their plans now (or have to rely on the Torys for support). I was hoping for a hung parliment because that would have been very exciting.
