THE ELECTION

So today is poll day and I was looking forward to spoiling my ballot paper for the district elections (this is a very conservative area). But I have been most disapointed to learn that only on candidate stood and so was elected unapposed... no chance for me to write silly things then. However I do get to vote today, I think that it is the town council, so I will get to go and cast my vote, I think there are three candidates one of those manifesto went along the lines of "I own the local bakery and (over priced) coffee shop so you should vote for me," nothing was said about policy or what they wanted to do for the town (which is what the other candidates did) so I will not be voting for him. I am not sure who I will even vote for. Maybe it will be an ipdip jobby.

Apparently politics in Liverpool seems to have gone back to the days of slagging each other off and isnt really demonstrating any real policies.

Will Tony Blair be announcing is leaving date next week or will he change his mind and let his megolomanic tendicies take over. What ever happens from the polls today I think it will be a reflection of what the country thinks of new labour. Scotland will be most interesting.

Seems to have become a big issue this year. 5 of the 6 Parish Councils which I look after were contested this year. All the City Council seat were uncontested, but there is no effective opposition locally with 40 tories and 17 opposition (split between five parties, labour, lib dem, liberal, non aligned and independents). Democracy, my arse!!
