Last week I started my life as a volenteer. I did two days (although not whole ones). Day one was planting a whole hedge (with other volenteers), which included hawthorns, blackthorns, hazel and field maple. Day two was again supposed to be hedge planting but the weather was rubbish and so no one else turned up to help, so Tom (my boss and mentor who is teaching me the tricks of the trade) and myself went shopping, I now proudly "own" a pair of toe capped wellies and toe capped boots. In the afternoon, the weather was better and so we filled some holes in existing hedges and then put up some simple fences to protect them from the cows, I got to play with one of those hedge putty in things, and I did some hammering of nails! All very exciting as you can tell.

Last night was guides. We had a games and planning evening. We played stations which I hadn't seen before and then played budge for almost 20 minutes, it twas entertaining. The next ten weeks are planned. This coming monday is "games night." I'm going to try and make up a story about guiding to go with ladders, I'll have a go at that on friday maybe.

Im back up north this weekend for a spot of child minding and some lunch. I will also be able to pick up some bits and pieces to bring back with me.
