So I haven't blogged for a while! Sorry didn't think I had done enough exciting stuff to merit a posting, but I was asked last night "just to keep everyone up to date."
So I make a quick scan through my diary since my last post. 8th of November, that seems ages away as it is now nearly December and my way slip has landed on my desk. I have £*90.4* in my pension you might like to know. Blimey I am a proper grown up. NI contributions being made plus a pention and union membership!
I've been to my first guide training session, it was about using G-files and Go For Its to incorporeate the 5 pillerthingys into your unit's activities. Was an interesting evening although I am not sure what the trainer really offered. I now have my book which I will work through in order to gain my warrent. I already have about 5 things ticked off. It is very difficult to do alot of the stuff as captain and doormouse don't let kipper and I make decisions etc and all they do is sit and drink coffee! I have some resources now, the unit now has 1 patrol x-tra and one badge file in preparation to us putting the guides in patrols in January (we have 18 girls and no patrols at present). I also have a pile of go for its and "being prepared" a risk assessment book. I am hoping that Guiding will start to appear on my door mat at somepoint in the near future and that I will be getting the guiding handbook/mannual thingy too (it is order). Last w/e (19th) I took Tim along with me to the Guide and brownie coffee morning, very amusing it was too. I ended up buying back 15 of the 40ish cakes I took along. Coming up I have some first aid training and I am supposed to be organising a trip to the cinema for the last week of term. We had a "wow factor" night this week and nearly all the girls took part (and I did a bit of singing...i think I sang ok).
Working is plodding along nicely. SEA stuff is on hold at the moment while other people catch up so I am commenting on some EIAs... don't think I can say too much about that though, if you want to know more you can ask.
Callum's curtain's are made. Well sort of, one is a little bit cocked up still and requires someone with more skill than I have to fix it.
I am becoming a regular visiter to London. Both for work and pleasure, SEA/SA conference, visits to see Jamts Tunks (I think that is the closest English spelling to the name) and me other cousins/aunt plus a day out with Hales/Roberts/Fishers (although not all of them).
Off home this w/e for several reason's: I get to meet Philip, I get to "laugh" at HM hosting a NW SAGGA event, I get to see other SAGGA friends and I get to see me mates. I'm well looking forward to it and I have taken Monday morning off as a flexi day so don't have to worry about sunday traveling.
I am worried about Tony Blair's sanity/brain cells. Nuclear power! This is heavily subsidied and so we never pay the true cost of it (unlike coal/gas/oil etc), we still haven't found a way of dealing with the waste and it is not really dealing with the issue of getting people to consume less energy in the first instance. Shouldn't "standby" be banned from electrical appliance's? Shouldn't all new houses be build to Carbon neutral standards or at least low carbon (solar heaters, triple glazing etc). I am most p*ssed off with it all. And they are still insisting on school reforms!
Anyone know of an alternative to diethyl ether?
