Those of you who payed attention to genetics in school will already know this answer... Howard is a female cat (tortoise shells cat only be fenale coz its resessive). She didn't start out with that name (she was originally Vicky) but Eric being the boy that he is wanted his cats named after Everton greats so Howards full name is Howard Kenndel and her brother was Dixie Dean. To confuse things further, me dad insists on calling her Mabel and Dixie used to be Fred. The Vet really loves us.
This mixing of the sexes thing is just following Lesley fanily tradition, our previous male cat was called Kelly!
I cant see no mouse/rat... Which bit of the photo are you talking about? I think the bit sticking out of the top of her is a leaf!

Howard the cat sat on a rat
It is definately a leaf, not a rat. I think I would have noticed a rat when I took the photo.
