Last night I had what I thought were successful meetings.
The first was between the County Commissioner, myself and Rangers. I covered lots of issues with them and put a proposal to them (that we would move the Ranger unit to a more central location (nearer to where most of them live) and we would set up a Young Leaders Unit which would run once a month and would provide training for the YL). After discussions the Rangers agreed that this would actually be more beneficial to them and so was a good idea.
The second was with the County Commissioner, myself and interfering Guider (due to other commitments, the other leader involved couldn't make it). I put the proposal to the interfering Guider. She wasn't happy. Said the Rangers didn't want to move and that most would stop coming if it did move etc etc. She wanted to run the Rangers not the YL unit. I said I wanted her to do the YL unit. She looked like she was going to cry. Anyhow, we went away from the meeting saying that we would start the process of setting up a YL unit and moving the Ranger unit.
Today, I had an email from the County Commissioner saying that she had changed her mind and she didn't think it was a problem for interfering Guider to run the Ranger unit where it currently is (in a small village in the back of beyond). As you can imagine, I am very angry. It took me a long time to come up with a solution which would be beneficial to the Rangers and that sort of made interfering guider think she was getting some of her own way.
One of the big issues, which I am trying to resolve is that I think interfering guider has a very unhealthy relationship with the Guides and Rangers and that they are overly dependent on her and she spoon feeds them (anyone heard of 7 guides getting BP challenge award at the same time?). Interfering guider currently runs the guide unit which has been feeding into the ranger unit, so I thought that if there is another guider available to run the Rangers then she should do it.

On Tuesday, we went to cut down a tree (well it had blown down and we were going to make it safe). We managed to sink the truck.

Today was spent in the office, because despite what the BBC weather page said for the whole day, it was most definitely raining. So for the first time in a very long time, I spent most of the day sat a computer writing reports. And it wasn't that bad. They weren't exactly taxing, just what management Tom and I had carried out on various sites over the past year. I also wrote a site description to go on the Trusts new website.
Apart from the rain, the worst part of the day was a fox that we spot lying next to our building, very seriously injured. So after a phone call to a man with a gun it was put out of its misery.
Hopefully it won't be raining tomorrow and we can go and do some physical work outside.
