Last weekend, I got on a virgin voyagur from Cheltentham (getting to the station is a whole other story) and went to Edinburgh to spend the weekend with my favourite older brother and this girlfriend plus others. I met up with two of my university chums, which was fun. I ended up being harrassed by oldmen in Leith. Also met up with Andras, Eszti and Noel in Glasgow and had lovely food with lovely company. I do hate those stupid trains, they are always fun and I always end up going backwards and then gettting travel sick.

I returned from Edinburgh with Eric's bass guitar which is now on loan to Callum (who has expressed an interest in learning to play it).

In guides I have started working towards my camp licence. I have a book to read, forms to fill in and a scheme to follow. I have started to read the book but its a tad boring, loads of stuff about accounts etc. I am starting to be a bit concerned though, I am trying to get a camp organised for this summer so I can get my practice in and then do the proper camp next summer. I have tents that I can get access to but other camping equipment, like mess tents, dinning shelters, cooks, pots pans etc its going to be hard work.

I have finished off my first portrait. I havent really done figure painting previously (except life drawing which didnt really count as I never really painted what was there) and so I think it is a good attempt. I will get a piture up on here or on flickr when I can get hold of the digtal camera.

So Tim has lots of books (too many for this small house really) anyway, one is called "Know yourself through your handwriting" so that is what I have set out to do.

1. Size- Small handwriting (I think)
People with small writing tend to be modest. They shun publicity and sometimes have feelings of inferiority. The small writer tends to be objective in his/her outlook and prefers to concentrate on details.

2. Slant- Right slant
People whose writing slants to the right come forward to meet other people. They are demonstrative, like to show their feelings and take an active part in life.

3. Width- Narrow
Those people whose writing is narrow tend to hold restricted views. They can be well desciplined and have inner strength, but all this can be hidden beneath a cloak of shyness. Such people are sometimes economical to the point of meaness.

4. Zone- Lower large, middle zone average, upper zone small
This type of writer is very down to earth, with strong instincts and good business sense. He/she may have a sensual nature.

5. Regularity- Regular pattern
Just as the writing is steady, disciplined and symmetrical- so is the person. He is unlikely to be late for an appointment and requires a calm and order life.

6. Connections- Connected letters
The person who links his/her letters together sees the logical order in which things ought to be done and problems solved. His/her conversation flows easily and he/she mixes well with other people because he understands relationships.

7. Forms of connection- Angles
At first glance, the writing seems to flow smoothly. But look more closely and you will see a certain stiffness about it, a sharpness induced by the angles. The person with stiff angular connections is firm, strong-minded, uncompromising, tense. He/she has little sensitivity to other people.

8. Pressure- Heavy
This can mean that the writer is full of energy and vitality. He/she feels deelpy. If the writing is quite larfe and flowing then he/she can achieve a great deal, but if the letters are squashed together in an upright, regular pattern then the writer could be fustrated.

9. Writing stroke- 'Pasty' writing
People who write in this way tend to be self-indulgent. They enjoy life and want all the good things. The blured outline suggests sensuality and sofeness.

10. Lines- Falling
Purposeful, well-balanced people who normally write in straight lines can find their lines suddenly sinking when they are overworked or ill. The writer who always lets his/her lines slip away is possibly a pessimist, always feeling he/she is being dragged down.

11. Spacing- Narrow line spacing or mingling
The loops of the top line get mixed up with the loops of the bottom line. They mingle together and jostle each other. People who write like this are not clear-thinking or well organised.

12. Margins- No margins
Some writers leave no margins at all, even going to the extent of turning the letter upside down and writing last bits above the address. These people may be economical and thrifty, or it can be they have no artistic sense.

So apparently that is me. But to be honest, my hand writing changes depending on the day of the week, what pen I am using, what paper I am using and what it is I am writing. Apparently there is another book in the house which looks at handwriting in more depth, so maybe I should look at that.

There is rain here, the garden is looking happier.

THE ELECTION

So today is poll day and I was looking forward to spoiling my ballot paper for the district elections (this is a very conservative area). But I have been most disapointed to learn that only on candidate stood and so was elected unapposed... no chance for me to write silly things then. However I do get to vote today, I think that it is the town council, so I will get to go and cast my vote, I think there are three candidates one of those manifesto went along the lines of "I own the local bakery and (over priced) coffee shop so you should vote for me," nothing was said about policy or what they wanted to do for the town (which is what the other candidates did) so I will not be voting for him. I am not sure who I will even vote for. Maybe it will be an ipdip jobby.

Apparently politics in Liverpool seems to have gone back to the days of slagging each other off and isnt really demonstrating any real policies.

Will Tony Blair be announcing is leaving date next week or will he change his mind and let his megolomanic tendicies take over. What ever happens from the polls today I think it will be a reflection of what the country thinks of new labour. Scotland will be most interesting.

Down on the Farm things are going well. I haven't got any paid work yet though... I'm still looking.

This week I have mainly been learning wildflowers. I think I have almost got the hand of it.

Today we put in fence posts, a strainer and 4 strutts. This afternoon I did some strimming of nettles and things, and it was fun. I think that next week holds in store a JCB and some blue pipping.

My sun tan on my arms is progressing nicely if only I had the opportunity to do my legs at the same time. It has been a little hot lately though so the breeze this week has been most welcome.

I have a fun packed weekend ahead of me, looking after the children on sat (Tim is playing cricket with the seconds), finding brithday presents, making a map and questions about Northleach so my guides learn to map read and then there is gardening and housework.
