The Life and Times of Me

I went into London last night to see the as yet unnamed baby, well actually I was told a possible name, it is Mongolian and I can't for the life of me remember what it is. He is lovely! He's not feeding very well but he looks fine. He has very wrinkly fingers!

No fuse wire has appeared yet. I am not sure if Anna is really fully aware of how dangerous it is to have just a bit of wire in the fuse box.

Sorry not posted for a while. Been busy, which probably means I have lots to talk about... Not sure all of it is suitable for the public though.

I sent another letter, this time to Gordon Brown regarding patents... Not had a rely yet.

Went over to Northleach at the w/e (as I did the w/e before). We was very domesticated. Did washing up. Mended some stuff etc. Tim ordered some curtain material for Callum's bedroom as I said I would make the curtains up and Callum had picked the material. I also purchased some dress making scissors (£22) and so I have started to make my corset. Just cut out one peice so far.

I have another cousin. Baigal gave birth early on Sunday morning to a little boy, who is still nameless. I won't go into all the gorry details coz it might put Clr off.

I am heading up to Dundee this w/e, its the first time I have been back since I graduated, I am well looking forward to it.

It was suggested to me last night that if Blair wanted a 4th Term he should resign as New Labour Leader and join the Tory party and then become their leader. Grant maintained schools back on the agenda?! Eric sent me a message today that amoungst other things said "Blair is a F**ker" I text back to say "so is Ruth Kelly." For once in my life I think that John Prescott is right, blimey it pains me to say that but I am saying it.

Yesterday night the 5amp fuse in the fuse box went. My land lady (who is 4'10" ish and only has a two step step ladder) couldn't reach the fuse box and so when I returned home at 6:30 the house was in darkness, so I got my tourch and the step ladder and turn off the lecky and took the fuse out got some wire which was lying about and put it in the fuse... I suspect that this is not how you should do it but the house now has lights. I have told Anna that she needs to by fuse wire ASAP, so hopefully tonight she will bring some with her and I will sort out the fuse. Whats worrying at the moment is that there are no smoke alarms in the house...

Work is clocking on as usual. People are stressed and pissed off.

Guides is going well, I have a polo shirt and a rugby shirt and one of those things for hanging badges on. Meeting up with "Kipper" on thursday to discuss the programme etc.

This is a joke of a website and sadly it is not a hoax but it is real!

The reason I found this was because I sent the following email:

With reference to the Partner's Blend coffee product, I welcome Nestle's commitment to ensuring that ''farmers in the developing world not only receive a fair price for their coffee, but that their sources of income are developed to support their families into the future in a manner that respects their lands and communities.'' I support Nestle's decision to work with the Fairtrade Foundation in order to ensure that a percentage of the producers with whom it works are receiving a fair deal.

However, in order for this step to be viewed as a genuine commitment to Fairtrade principles, it is essential that Nestle now moves towards ensuring that the rest of its products comply with Fairtrade standards.. Having guaranteed a certain (and extremely small) percentage of the producers with whom Nestle works a fair and stable price, social premium payment, pre-financing if requested, long-term trading relationships, and the right to democratic organisation, I strongly urge the company to extend this commitment those not involved in Partners Blend, in order to prove a sincere commitment to Fairtrade principles and standards. Undergoing the independent auditing required by the Fairtrade accreditation process will also prove Nestle's commitment to transparency in their practices.

Finally, despite the fact that Nestle have launched a Fairtrade product, I will be continuing my boycott of the company due to what I regard as its unethical practices in other areas, most notably the marketing of baby milk. I strongly urge Nestle to ensure that its practices in all areas meet basic human rights standards in order to prove that the launch of a Fairtrade product is not merely a marketing device but a sign of a genuine commitment to human and workers rights.

from which I got the following reply:

We also have a large direct purchasing scheme which operates in seven coffee producing countries and which enables farmers to retain more of the value of their coffee.

This involves working with our farmer suppliers in El Salvador and Ethiopia to ensure that not only do they receive a fair price but also that their sources of income are developed to support their families into the future in a manner that respects their lands and communities over the long term.
