The Life and Times of Me

I like me stars for tomorrow: It's a bouncy, fun start to November for Aquarius. Your sense of humour is very off-the-wall at the best of times, and today it could be positively surreal, but fortunately everyone else finds you funny and endearing (as opposed to weird...) so make the most of this boost in your popularity!

I discovered this week that I miss being called "Aims." No one in Dundee calls me it and although it is only me closest friends back home that calls me it I do miss it. I think it is much more effectionate than Amy. There is a long and coluded history as to why it started too, which I might go into at a later date, but now back to my soil essay.

I heard today that the great John Peel has died. I am now sad. I loved to listen to both his Radio 1 show and Home Truths on Radio 4. Tuesday nights tribute to John on Radio 1 can be found here on the listen again feature. Radio 4 is broadcasting a special best off Home Truths this coming Saturday (9-10am) for those interested. Tributes to John can be found here and here and here and here.
This week I have had visitors; the Reeves’ came up and stayed over Tuesday and Wednesday nights. We went to Camperdown Park and played on the adventure playground, we went to the Olympia swimming pool, we went to Tentsmuir beach and we did some hanging around. I was really nice having them to stay although the flat became a little crowded as Charlene’s parents were here too (9 of us in total plus a dog).
I have now got to do some catching up on work. I have lots of periodical articles to read and an essay to write as well as my dissertation. Thanks for the offer for a chapter of you thesis Rachel but I don’t I could get away with it…
I got a parcel from our Malcolm this week, some very nice French art books, I haven’t been able to read them/look at the pictures yet. I also have £15 of Waterstones vouchers to spend and I have a nice list of books to buy, I recon I can get six books on the three for two offers.
My fantastic purple/pink knee high suede boots arrived this week and they fitted perfectly and now they are in my cupboard having been worn out once. They are FANTASTIC.

A story for a friend:
Once upon a time there was a young man called András, who was intending to see the world. His first stop was the UK. In the UK he didn't get very far, he only got to Greendale where he met a very nice man called Postman Pat. Postman Pat was a very busy and important member of his community but he still managed to have time to show András around the area. First stop was to see the beautiful hills surrounding Greendale. András was amazed; he had never seen such impressive glacial features, Corries, moraines, drumlins and Roche moutons. He asked pat "how did these features form?" Pat replied "well András, a long time ago, long before either you or I were born, lots of ice covered the UK and most of Europe and it is this ice that rubbed away at the landscape and produced this beautiful features we see today." András was amazed, "where can I see more of these Pat?" Pat said, "I know, I'll get my friend Fireman Sam to come and pick you up and he can take you to Ponty Pandy in Wales and you can explore more." So the next day Fireman Sam arrived and took András to Ponty Pandy and what he got up to there is a story for another time...
More on that school of thought soon :-)

I am suffering from mental bloke. I spent all of yesterday putting data into my computer and then making graphs from it. I now have to write about all the bits and peices I have but it isn't working.
I have an essay to write about soil errosion in the developed world. Today I hope to do an essay plan and start an introduction. I have to go to the library (a place I hate) to get the text books for the essay. But I don't feel like leaving the flat because it is cold and wet outside.

The Ginger Gene: this is something I posses. Due to it I am attracted to other Gingers (yes technically I am not ginger...) they don't even have to be good lucking gingers, all they have to be is ginger. I have now added to my ginger list Julian Rhind-Tutt who is currently staring in the Green Wing an you might have seen him in Nottinghill and Tomb Raider. There are at least three other gingers on my list (oh how orgainised am I, I keep lists) all of whom aren't famous and most won't get on other peoples general lists. My flat mate finds some of this worrying! Why?
I had a presentation on wednesday for my dissertation (it wasn't worth any marks luckily), I was supposed to talk for ten minutes but I barely managed five. Why am I perfectly capable of standing up in front of little kids and speaking but when it comes to grown up...
Wednesday night I went to see Ae Fond Kiss (again), Ken Loaches new film. It is a very good film although the some of the acting leaves a lot to be diserired. The lead male is HOT though ;-)
Last night I became cultural, I went to the Theatre, the Dundee Rep no less for £2.50 thanks to a freshers fair voucher. The play was called A Lie Of The Mind and was set in the USA, it was very intense (so much so it have to intervals!). Follow this link to find out more.
After the theatre it was off to the union for some dancing, good exercise to round off the day with.
Have managed to finish all my field research for my dissertation this week, I now just have to start writing the thing (and do a bit more reading). Apparently it is due in on the 3rd of December rather than the 17th as I thought so I really need to get my butt into action.

Here goes folks, an attempt at daily blogging.
Who ever emailed through the box to say that 3.6 was a good average lied, it isn't...
Today was planned out as follows: 9:30 meet new studies skills women, 10:00 pick to OHP slides for presentation tomorrow, 10:15 leave for shopping and careers fair in Glasgow, 19:00 cricket (pick up memebrship forms and monies) 19:30 Choir, 23:00 bed. Well it didn't work out like that. For reasons out of my control we didn't leave for Glasgow till after 11 and then it took two hours to get there. Shopping was a let down (John Lewis didn't have the size I wanted and didn't even make it to Clarks for boots!). Careers fair was full of big companies I wouldn't want to work for... I put my name down for a volentry thing in SA which does conservation and has two game reserves and works with Rhode(?) university. Left Glasgow at 16:30 and got back to Dundee at 18:45, by this time I had developed a migraine and so went straight to bed after swallowing some pills. Managed to sleep for a few hours but then hunger woke me up! On way back to bed now after beans on toast and an apple!

Can I ask a small favour of all you wonderful people who read my blog (and in return I promise to try and blog more often). Follow this link and give me a rating (I don't mind what as long as it is more than 5).
Major double booking went on tonight. Micheal Palin is in Dundee signing books but I have booked to go horse riding which I can't get out of and so I can't go and meet him :(
Sorted out some of my computing problems (or atleast ordered the neccessary parts to solve them) so I am less stressed.

Back from a weekend of general spring cleaning a being useful at Barbara Edge's for which I made a wee bit of cash (and i am going to buy some new boots/shoes with).
Have discovered I have to give a presentation about my dissertation a week on wednesday (20th). I knew I was going to have to do this but I didn't know when... I don't mind speaking in public but I am not very good at speaking interlectually in public. Campfires there fine, as are groups of small children. I am supposed to talk about what I have found so are, which to be honest is... nothing!
Next hour our so is dedicated to sitting in a union bar collecting money from the cricket club members... how exciting, made less so by not going to sleep till after 3am due to a sore toe (for which I am going to the uni health centre about).
